Vins de Quimera is a project born in 2021 with the aim of working their own vineyard with the method of regenerative agriculture and making wines with minimal intervention. We are located in Vilalba dels Arcs (Terra Alta, southern Catalonia) and we make white and red wines from native varieties (white Garnacha, Macabeo and red Garnacha). We do not have any type of certification: neither Denomination of Origin, nor ecological nor biodynamic. We work the vineyard sustainably, without any synthetic product and minimizing sulfur treatments to prevent powdery mildew. At the same time, our long-term objective in the vineyard is to regenerate the damage produced by industrial agriculture, reducing the yield of grapes per hectare, the work of tilling the soil, working with vegetable covers in order to increase the organic matter in our soils. , favoring soil microbiology, improving water retention and filtration, reducing erosion and increasing biodiversity also in the vineyard. Our own farm is called Les Comes, it is a 2-hectare farm, of which only 1 is a 15-year-old Macabeo vineyard. The farm is located in the municipality of Vilalba dels Arcs, at about 400 meters above sea level and is located in the Les Comes ravine. It consists of two slopes and the bottom of the valley, with the macabeo in the background and the slopes are forest and terraces of olive groves. In addition, we have a wide variety of fruit trees (walnut, fig, apple, pear, etc.) that for now we use for our own consumption, but we have already started making a small amount of Ratafia. We also have leased several Macabeo farms (Mas dels Aires, Corbera d'Ebre), Garnacha Blanca (Faristol, Gandesa), Garnacha Tinta and Tempranillo (Les dotzenes, Les setenes, Vilalba dels Arcs) that we work with the same precepts but we will have them a couple more years. We also buy grapes (Garnacha blanca) from local young winegrowers who work with ECO certification.
