THE TERRITORY
Our country boasts a thousand-year history, we know it thanks to the finds of work tools that date back to prehistoric times: this confirms that agriculture has always been practiced here, so much so that the name of our municipality derives from the Latin "runcare", to deforest , and Roncà has taken on the meaning of "land tilled with the billhook", a knife with a curved blade that is still used today for the same purpose.
Our vineyards, of only autochthonous grapes, are located in a hamlet of Roncà, in Brenton, located between the provinces of Verona and Vicenza, to the west Lake Garda, to the east the Adriatic Sea with its warmth, to the north the Monti Lessini rich in pastures, to the south the Po Valley which slopes down towards the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
The land in which they immerse their roots was formerly home to volcanoes that have left an indelible mark in terms of expressive richness and minerality, thanks to their schists, tuffs, lavas that have overlapped over the millennia becoming the backbone of our territory.
The oldest vineyard, with an average age of 40 years, is located 450 meters above sea level, in a magnificent south/south-west position where it receives the hottest rays of the summer sun, but the altitude guarantees the night-time temperature change ideal which will then give intense aromas to our bunches of Durella.
A little further down another old vineyard of Durella alone lies below a beautiful grassy slope.
Finally down in Roncà, 120 meters above sea level, is the youngest vineyard of Garganega, which we planted with our own hands and which more than its other companions requires care and attention to be accompanied towards full maturity.
All around, biodiversity is guaranteed by woods that surround the vineyards with a loving embrace and by green manure, which we practice every year with some essences, each with its precise function, aimed at guaranteeing the soil and the vine the nourishment and protection necessary for coping with the intensity of the wine season.
We do not use any chemical or poisonous substance in the vineyard: no weeding, no treatments and no fertilizers that can pollute or alter the precious balance that connects the vine with the soil.
The grapes that we will then use to make wine come exclusively from these three plots, each plant is followed by us personally and respected in its particular needs.
The harvest is done by hand at the most appropriate moment.
Proud and at the same time amazed by the rich history we step on every day, with the aim of preserving intact the value with which nature nourishes the bunches of grapes, we only use the indigenous yeasts present on the skin, we do not destem and we only check that the fermentation takes place at the desired temperature.
All of this is aimed at achieving a single goal: distilling the richness, generosity, peculiarity, history and beauty of our land in the glass of wine you will taste.
