A family adventure launched in 2012, Vin de Famille Scarlata is a family estate located in Souvignargues, at the foot of the Cévennes. 3 times the word family in the same sentence record broken. Present are Véronique the mother, Renaud the father, both working on their available time alongside their respective main activities; and Guilhem the son, the latter working 100% on the estate (sometimes more).
In each vintage we seek to obtain the symbiosis between the terroir, the grape varieties, and the know-how. All our interventions, from the vineyard to the cellar, are guided by passion.
Located on small hillsides, the Souvignargues terroir is unique: late maturation, fresh wind... Perfect for making fresh wines with beautiful expression. The vines are cultivated with every other row between rows left in grass for the surrounding fauna. The other inter-row space is moved lightly but regularly in order to control grass cover while maintaining the biological activity of the soil.
Since 2023 part of the vines have been worked by Joanna, the plowing mare of Anaïs of Attelages du Vidourle, the latter being half of Guilhem (sometimes more also).
Our plots are partly isolated, surrounded by oak woods. The grape varieties grown are: Syrah, Oeillade, Carignan, Grenache noir for the red, Ugni Blanc, Sauvignon, Alvarinho and Aranel for the white.
Vinification and aging are carried out with native yeasts and no use of inputs except a light protective sulphiting if absolutely necessary if the quality of the wine risks being altered (mice on vat, sudden rise in volatile acidity ). Rigor and passion are required in order to offer clean wines, with great flavor.
No sparkling wines at the moment.
