The company is located in Casteltermini in the province of Agrigento, between 600 and 550 meters above sea level, in the Platani Valley, in the heart of the Sicani Mountains. The total surface area of the vineyard is of 1.3 ha and the roots of these plants sink into a soil poor in chalky limestone matrix. The vineyard is grassed by spontaneous vegetation and, during the autumn season, the turf is consisting mainly of wild Sainfoin, more commonly called "Sulla", which provides a good content of nitrogenous substances to the soil: hence the choice not to fertilize and sow legumes. Thanks to the mowing of the wild herbs, I create a mulch of approximately 10 cm which significantly reduces soil erosion and phenomena due to low rainfall. The processing of the sub-row and the harvest take place manually, limiting mechanical processing to a minimum. I meticulously follow the principles of sustainable agriculture and at the basis of everything there is the refusal of the use of pesticides, herbicides and all substances harmful to the environment and living beings. Treated exclusively with sulfur and copper: 2-3 treatments are carried out per year.
My concept is that of accompanying the plant during its natural growth cycle, this is the reason why I follow the vineyard daily in all its phenological phases. The yields are low, but of quality, which is it allows me to obtain wines with personality capable of telling their story.
"Wine is made in the field" is the phrase that most reflects my idea of wine. I therefore reiterate the importance of dedicating all my efforts in the field with the aim of bringing healthy, quality grapes to the cellar. The musts undergo spontaneous fermentation mainly in fiberglass containers, without any temperature control, following an artisanal process worthy of the origin of my grapes, to give life to authentic, tenacious and lively wines, like the winemakers who produce them.< /p>
