Have you tried Claus Preisinger's 'Dope'? It has possibly one of the most iconic labels in the natural wine world, a small Dymo-style label that simply reads DOPE. The secret though, is that it invites the drinker to look past it and directly at the alluring color of this refreshing rosé.
On the nose, you're greeted by red summer fruits with a touch of barnyard funk. As you take a sip, the red berries explode on your palate. Raspberry, pomegranate, strawberry, cherry, thyme, low tannins, and a touch of effervescence make this a real summer smasher. It’s like an adult juice box.
Claus Preisinger’s winery is located in the village of Gols by Lake Neusiedlersee in Burgenland, Austria. Dope is made from Blaufrankish grapes, harvested early and aged in Amphoras. Claus works biodynamically and is deeply in touch with his land.
Claus Preisinger is also one of the members of the Pannobile group of winemakers that includes the Rennersistas, Paul Achs, Judith Beck, Andreas Gsellmann, Gernot Heinrich, Gernot Leitner, Nittnaus, and Pittnauer. Quite an impressive lineup! They work together, exchange ideas, and help promote the amazing Burgenland terroir. If you haven't tried DOPE yet, it always sells out quickly, so grab one while you can. Cheers!
