Jeanne Yerre, the founder of a company specializing in the promotion and distribution of rare, modest, and abandoned grape varieties, is hosting a wine tasting event in Paris on April 17th. The event will be held at La Chope des Compagnons, located at 86 Quai de l'Hôtel de Ville, 75004 Paris, France, from 10am to 6pm. 🍷
The tasting will feature wines from various winemakers, including Agathe and Romaric Hardy, Domaine de Quissat, Benoit Salel and Elise Renaud, Domaine Salel & Renaud, Sylvain Leest, Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal - le Jonc Blanc, Valérie Forgues, Sophie Clerc and Romuald Colin - Le Chai de Thélème, and Vincent Chauvelot - Châteaumeillant.
Jeanne Yerre accompanies winemakers in replanting abandoned grape varieties and selling their wines in cellars, wine bars, and restaurants throughout Paris. Between 2019 and 2022, she also participated in the CepAtlas program at the University of Tours, creating a historical map of grape varieties. A large part of her work consists of transcribing and analyzing unpublished archival documents, particularly agricultural surveys, which allows her to make replanting proposals based on reliable historical data.
Currently, FranceAgrimer authorizes over 200 grape varieties for wine grapes in France, but 86% of the vineyards are made up of only 20 grape varieties. Jeanne hopes to increase this diversity with the idea that it can help fight vine diseases and find solutions to climate change in the vineyards.
We commend Jeanne for her important work and hope to see you at the tasting!
