Best orange I’ve ever tasted. In my opinion, Comparable only with Gravner’s.
Amazing dried floral and herbal aromatics, great length. A little savory brett.
Powerful. So many things happening here. Nuts (almonds and hazel), fruits, flowers (lily and lavender), herbs. One of the great orange wines out there.
Hay muchas acides combinada a la perfecta maceración con pieles. Muy divertido, easy drinking
Still prefer the 2011, but the 2012 is very good. Quite medicinal and iodine on the nose, this is day 2 and it has calmed down. Lots of tannins and grip, dried fruit, and mineral. It is, I think, one of the quintessential skin contact wines on the market.
Amazing orange wine, first encountered at Green Man wines in Dublin at tasting and have been hoarding this vintage in particular ever since.
Savory herbaceous notee of rosemary/thyme. Drinking well. Tannins more evident after it opens up. Long finish. Had it at Razza in Jersey City NJ. Place not listed on the app
orange AF color, nice acid, minerals, fresh and juicy with nice tannins. Little hint of Brett maybe? Not sure. It’s fucking good. Drink up.
Next level Orange Wine. La Stoppa Ageno 2014 from Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Malvasia and Trebbiano, I believe, skin fermented for 30 days. No additions, serious natural wine here. So much character in the glass, some medicinal notes, dried apricots, peach and orange rind. Super tannic on the palate but with drive and power! Amazing wine, but not for the faint hearted!
Bianco secco, aromatico e potente. Quasi indescrivibile per la sua personalità
Exiting wine, 10 years old and still going strong. A touch of Madeira in the nose, but the palate is fresh and has punch. Tastes something between a young pinot (herbal notes, black tea) and ripe riesling (mineral, apricot). Fascinating and pairs well with salmon.
Fermentazione spontanea e macerazione sulle bucce per circa 4 mesi in vasche di acciaio e di cemento. Affinamento in botti da 40 hl per il tempo necessario. Nessuna filtrazione né aggiunta di anidride solforosa all’imbottigliamento. Naso: ricco, potente, aromatico e balsamico, in continua evoluzione. Gelsomino e gardenia🌸 Albicocca disidratata e pesca sciroppata, poi arancia amara e perfino frutti di bosco. Mela cotta, mandorla amara, caramello e miele di castagno🍯 Das, olive verdi dolci. Salvia, tè nero, tabacco. Bocca: sorso ampio e succoso, opulento e salino. Acidità molto vivace, che causa salivazione. Scorza d’arancia, pompelmo, genziana, miele e caramello.
Even if it's a bottle I opened few months ago, I'd like to talk you about an interesting meeting that some colleagues and I had during a blind tasting with Mr. Ageno 🍷 Ageno Emilia Bianco IGT 2014 from La Stoppa 🍇 Malvasia di Candia Aromatica (90%), Ortrugo and Trebbiano. La Stoppa, located in the area of Val Trebbiola, close to Piacenza, has almost 100 years of history, and everything started with Ageno, the lawyer to whom this bottle is dedicated to. It is now managed by the Pantaleoni family with a huge respect of the environment. Is the result of 4 months of maceration made with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats, without any clarification or filtration, without any add of SO2. The glass is a bright amber yellow, soon as I poured it, the wine released a range of very curious perfumes: Propolis, resin, beeswax, chestnut honey, incense, aromas of Mediterranean herbs and dry citrus fruits, clementinea above all, closing with a pungency that reminded me of lemongrass. I spare a sip for the day after and it still had so much to tell: vetiver, dried calendula and mimosa flowers, sealing wax, myrrh. Fresh and very tasty sip, in which I could still felt the scratchy tannin (an important point for a future long-lasting aging in bottle), closing with an aftertaste of fresh vanilla. These are the wines that can light up your head 💡❤️ I'd recommend to find older millésimes, otherwise to store it for some years in the cellar (it can really last for more than 10 years)!
Complex, balanced , unique - surprisingly fresh with soft honeyed notes, autumnal bruised apple, candied orange zest and subtle farmyard feel. Touch of tannins from skins- grip that feels like cold black tea with lemon. Wine with character!
A stunning orange wine and all that you would expect from a 2012 skin contact wine from the amazing La Stoppa 💥🍊 Honey, Peach, Apricot, Pine resin, Gripping tannins, dry ⚡️⚡️⚡️
