9.0 / $25 / zero / terrel wines / my trip to Australia a few years back is what got me into natural wine. I brought a couple bottles back from Lucy Margaux that were quite memorable. Buying more in the states was problematic, because bottles were in the $45+ range. Apparently that was in part attributed to previous importers. Whatever, now Terrell Wines is able to bring them in and sell at a range of $22-$35 a bottle. Im back in! Ok, about this wine... well, for first thing you notice is the label printed on cute homespun paper. Then the cork has "No So2" artistically printed on the top. All good so far. Pour into glass and it's clearly had some time on skins. It smells like a fucking pina colada in the best possible way. And add some bitter acidity on your tongue, and you're there! This wine is a perfect example of terroir. Grab any glass of Bordeaux or even New Zealand savvy b, and compare. This is a totally different wine, from the same grape. Round, tropical, funky... versus bright, crisp, minerality. So glad I can buy Lucy M. wines affordably now!
On nose, elderflower, plum, fruitiness On mouth, tannin, funky fruitiness, leaving a bit of funk on the aftertaste. Very moreish.
