D.S. bio was born in 2012 and is located in the Municipality of Pescosolido (FR) at 630 m. s.l.m., on the Lazio side of the Abruzzo National Park; here the pedoclimatic environment, the constant ventilation, the southern exposure, the altitude, the extreme slopes of the fields and the loose soils, offer a unique viticultural environment.
D.S. bio has a total area of 25 hectares: 3.5 hectares of vineyards, the rest are occupied by olive groves, arable land,
woods, junipers, pastures for horse breeding. Biodiversity plays a key role in the company philosophy. The vineyards are located in 11 different plots, within a few kilometers, in small plots, and are surrounded by centuries-old olive groves, holm oak and oak woods.
The wines that are obtained are made exclusively from grapes produced with the method of biodynamic agriculture; with spontaneous fermentations in concrete tanks.
From the very beginning, the company has chosen to focus everything on the native vines that have been grown in this area for hundreds of years. Especially on the white Maturano, Pampanaro, Capolongo, Lecinaro and Uva Giulia: genetic heritage saved from extinction thanks to the tenacity of the farmers of these mountains.
Neither chemical fertilizers nor herbicides are used on the farm. The only products used are biodynamic preparations: cornoletamen (500), silica (501), sowing of green manures and compost (from manure produced on the farm) used for soil fertilization.
Fertilization, cultivation and breeding are carried out in ways that respect and promote the fertility and vitality of the soil and at the same time the typical qualities of plant and animal species.
An important role is characterized by the influence of the moon in the cultivation and management of vineyards. All the processes, both in the cellar and in the field, scrupulously follow the phases of the moon.
