Take the wooded path leading to the castle of Mayragues, it's entering a story! That of a 12th century fortified house and thousand-year-old vines. Coming to this wine estate also means discovering the story of Laurence and Alan Geddes, who fell in love with a ruin nestled in a landscape of valleys in the Gaillac region. There, 40 years ago, another story begins, that of a restoration, of daring work around 13 ha of biodynamic vines, of a love for this terroir and its forgotten grape varieties. In the 21st century, the Mayragues saga becomes one of transmission. Anne and Duncan continue their parents' approach, with their Gaillac wines certified Organic Agriculture and Demeter. In the cellar, visitors can continue the story by tasting their red, dry and sweet white wines, sailing wine ... Make wine, yes. But not to the detriment of the vine and its environment! In 1999, the Château de Mayragues was the first wine-growing estate in the Gaillac region to bet on biodynamic cultivation. Throughout the seasons, the winegrowers take care of the vines by favoring the life of the soil and biodiversity. They respect the lunar and planetary calendar to provide the plant with specific care. Thus, they learned the secret of horn dung and other herbal teas! The result: the roots take root deeper in the soil, the vines are more resistant and their grapes have quite a character! After the manual harvests, in the cellar, the vinification is done according to a very prestigious quality charter, that of “Renaissance des AOC”. The wine is then bottled at the château before landing on gourmet tables.
