On the hillsides of Hameau Toucheboeuf, the vines grow among the wild grasses. No pesticides.
It is here, where the Rhône valley meets the landscapes of the Pilat Natural Park, that Simon Gastrein raises his wine as he builds his estate. Intuitively. Simply. By letting the terroir, the seasons and its fantasies express themselves freely, with the certainty that “nature does things well if we let it be generous”.
A trained chef, he spent his youth in the vineyards and developed his palate with a wine-loving grandfather. He left, far away, in South America, before returning to train on the job and in the lands of André Perret.
Established since 2017 in Bessey, in this little corner of the clayey and mineral Loire, he creates wines that resemble him: not fussy but not without manners.
Intuition made him plant Marsanne and Roussanne alongside Viognier, Gamay and Syrah. He continued with Cugnette, Petite Arvine and Altesse. Or 5 hectares of vines, worked in IGP Collines Rhodaniennes or in cuvées-experiences under the Vins de France label.
Wines for friends, celebrations, terroir and character to taste nature and its know-how.
No sparkling wines at the moment.
