After a career as a musician with the Franco-American rock-folk group "Moriarty", Thomas Puéchavy is embarking, to our delight, on the adventure of the wines we love: that of living wines! Originally from Paris, from an American mother and a French father, it is true that nothing predestined Thomas for a career as a winegrower. However, since the holidays of his childhood spent in the Loir et Cher as well as his numerous wanderings through France (and its vineyards) with his Moriarty group, Thomas Puéchavy has discovered a growing interest, a strong desire for the wine world. . In 2012, he will notably do the harvesting and vinification at Bruno Duchêne, in Roussillon. In 2016, after 15 years as a harmonica player with his band, it’s time for him to do something else. He then undertakes to take a BTS viti-oeno in Amboise. Trained by very good teachers (such as Damien Delecheneau from La Grange Tiphaine, for example) it is only natural that he turns towards healthy viticulture close to nature. He did a few experiments around Vouvray, and in particular at Tanguy Perrault, where he learned to vinify. After some research, he acquired some 3 hectares of Chenin vines in the Vouvray appellation. The vines are between 25 and 80 years old and adjoin the Huet estate. He immediately started converting his vines to organic farming. At the same time, he moved with his family to the village of Nazelles-Négron where he found an incredible cellar, all in tufa (local chalk), very spacious, with several rooms and all right next to the house. family. Despite the proximity of Nazelles-Négron to Vouvray, Thomas' wines are “Vin de France” because the cellar where the wines are made is not located in Vouvray itself (we will not comment on… grrrrrr). Thomas' wines are vinified as naturally as possible and the aging takes place in barrels. Chenin finds the expression of its terroir in its cuvées. An important minerality emerges, the maturities are there but we nevertheless find freshness thanks to the acidities and the well-mastered aging.
