Nestled in the lively neighborhood of Ixelles in Brussels, Le Tournant stands as a sanctuary for enthusiasts of natural wine. Established in 1998, the restaurant underwent a transformative journey in 2007 under Baptiste Lardeux and Philippe Mesnier, emerging as a vanguard in Brussels' natural wine scene. In 2012, Denis Delcampe, a seasoned chef and former film producer, took the reins, infusing his culinary prowess while Baptiste and Philippe founded Titulus, a renowned natural wine cellar, further solidifying their impact on Brussels' wine culture.
Under Denis Delcampe's guidance, Le Tournant's culinary team, including sommelier Kevin Rousseau, apprentice sommelier Laetitia Cordery, and kitchen virtuoso Kamilia El Bouzidi, exudes passion and expertise in crafting exquisite dining experiences.
Le Tournant's allure lies in its harmonious fusion of traditional and contemporary cuisine, complemented by a meticulously curated selection of natural wines. Classic dishes, like the beer-braised beef cheek, find perfect companionship in these "clean" wines, free from occasional flaws that can mar other natural wine offerings.
Le Tournant epitomizes a cuisine born of passion, entirely crafted in-house, featuring meticulously chosen ingredients by Denis Delcampe. He places a premium on the ethos of a short supply chain, embracing local products and collaborating with Belgian farmers. Remarkably, he stands among the rare few who still honor the tradition of working with the entire animal!
Ixelles' natural wine scene, as described by Denis, is eclectic, with various establishments claiming to serve natural wine, occasionally blurring the lines between biodynamics, natural, and organic offerings. This isn’t something you’ll find a Le Tournant.
Le Tournant beckons epicureans, bon vivants, and those with a palate for exceptional cuisine, establishing itself as a must-visit destination for lovers of good food and fine natural wines.
