Liberty: Gastronomy, Coffee & Wine, located in Lisbon, opened its doors at the end of December 2022. The establishment is owned by Nikita, who was previously the owner of Bloom, the first specialty coffee place in Lisbon, and Anna who also owns their book store Liberty Books, offering books in Ukrainian, Russian, and English languages.
Liberty prides itself for it’s sense of community and the welcoming atmosphere. Guests not only come for the food and natural wine but also to meet new people and spend time with friends. Liberty has become a meeting place for both locals and tourists who share a love for good food, great company, and a sense of belonging.
Liberty focuses on breakfasts/brunch, specialty coffee, and natural wine. They are expanding quickly though with plans to start serving dinners from October onwards and they are soon opening a second location near the ocean.
With their wine selection, they aim to showcase interesting wines and highlight talented winemakers from Portugal. While Lisbon offers a variety of wines from around the world, Liberty takes pride in sourcing unique and lesser-known Portuguese wines. They recognize that some people may only be familiar with Vinho Verde, a popular green wine, but they feel Portugal has so much more to offer.
Liberty actively seeks out wines that capture the essence of different regions in Portugal. For example, they feature wines from the Azores islands, known for their volcanic soil, resulting in distinctive flavors. They also offer complex red wines from the Douro and Dao regions, which are renowned for their rich and diverse wine production.
