Have you tried Gente di Mare by Lammidia? Only 1000 bottles are made of this special Italian wine. Its grapes are 100% Pecorino and are planted next to the sea near Pescara, Abruzzo, which creates wonderful saltiness and minerality that lingers on your lips.
Hints of honeysuckle and golden syrup mix with ripe citrus on the nose, inviting you to take a sip. The taste is refreshing, with low tannins but mouth-watering acidity. The saline and minerals are beautifully complemented by tangerine, orange, and lime flavors, hints of grapefruit, and tangy gooseberries.
Lammidia's wines are made simply, purely, with spontaneous fermentation, no additives, no clarification, or filtration. They are a true expression of the grapes and their terroir. Created by Davide and Marco, after they discovered natural wine in 2007, they began making wines in 2010 and constantly evolve, learn, and exchange with winemakers they meet on their travels. Each year is a journey to get the very best out of their land and grapes through experimenting, testing, and expanding their knowledge.
Lammidia or La'mmidia means 'envy' or 'evil eye' in their local dialect. Traditionally, wise women would get rid of La'mmidia using spells and potions made of water and oil. During their first winemaking process, fermentation would not start; Nonna Antonia came and made the ritual, and some minutes later, fermentation started. Since then, she gets rid of La'mmidia before each harvest.
Whatever Davide, Marco, and Nonna Antonia are doing, it's working! Be sure to try some divine Lammidia wine as soon as you can, before La'mmidia comes back! 🍷
