Fongoli is an Umbrian production company, which is based on one of the hilltops of Montefalco, a fundamental center for regional wine production.
It is a family-run winery now in its fourth generation, where warmth and passion are the soul of what lies behind the production of Fongoli wine.
The common thread that unites the work of the Fongoli family from the origins of the winery, about a hundred years ago, to today is represented by the strong attention to the environment that surrounds the owned vineyards. An approach which, in recent years, has become even more integral, sanctioning the winery's adherence to the production regulations of the Vinnatur association, a point of reference for all those enlightened winemakers who embrace the cause of artisanal production.
The land of the Fongoli winery extends over approximately 33 hectares, where, in addition to the vineyards, we find woods, meadows and a natural truffle forest.
The entire surface is cultivated with biodynamic practices, the company is certified organic.
The vineyards are alternated with tall trees, to guarantee biodiversity, and the vines are treated only with self-produced copper sulphate and lime and with mine powder sulphur.
Different types of native and international grapes are grown between the rows, starting from Sagrantino, Trebbiano Spoletino and Grechetto, up to Sangiovese and Montepulciano and in small quantities Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
In the cellar the reds are produced traditionally, while for the whites constant attention is paid to oxidation and respect for the typical aromas of the varietals; the fermentations take place spontaneously in different containers between open tubs, concrete and amphorae.
Starting from the 2017 vintage, all the wines are clarified naturally with decanting, without carrying out any filtration.
No white wines at the moment.
