“Vino di Anna” is a small family winery owned by Anna Martens and Eric Narioo which is located in Solicchiata, on the north side of Etna, Sicily. They started making wine on Etna in 2008.
In 2011 they restored an old cellar and an ancient Etna millstone, in the Crasà district, under the town of Solicchiata.
Today, together with a team of young local boys, they biodynamically cultivate seven hectares of land divided into small plots. The vineyards
they are located in different Contrade between Linguaglossa (Monte Pomiciaro), Castiglione di Sicilia (Crasà, Piano Filici, Rampante), Monte LaGuardia and Randazzo (Pirao, Nave, Tartaraci, Allegracore) at different altitudes ranging between 650 and 1200 m a.s.l.
They are old sapling vines (60-100 years) mainly of Nerello grapes
Mascalese, small percentages of Nerello Cappuccio, Alicante (Grenache) and grapes
native white wines (Grecanico, Catarratto, Carricante, Minella Bianca, Inzolia).
The basaltic, sandy and dark black soil was formed by the crumbling of different types of lava, and is rich in mineral elements.
In 2012 Anna and Eric buried the first Georgian amphora (qvevri), given to them by a producer friend from Georgia and today they own a total of nine qvevri, all buried on the farm.
The wines are produced with minimal intervention in the cellar, only indigenous yeasts, no additives, no clarification or filtration, with little or zero added SO2.
The company's philosophy is to produce wines that have their own energy, that respect nature and their origin.
The company does not have organic or biodynamic certification, despite this, however, are the methods used to produce our products.
