Located in the Matarraña region of Spain, Sifer Wines is a small family-run estate that produces roughly 500 cases of wine every vintage. It was founded in 2017 by the Orrengo-Ferreira family. Respect for the environment is one of their guiding principles. All their vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically. No fertilizers or insecticides are ever used. Sulfur is kept to an absolute minimum in their wines, in fact some of their cuvées are bottled without the addition of any. The goal is that of producing “pleasant wines that represent the uniqueness of [their] land and [that] help with a healthy digestion”. The region’s continental climate means that there is an extreme fluctuation between daytime and nighttime temperatures in the vineyard. This fluctuation enables the grapes to achieve perfect phenolic ripeness and imparts the wines with great aromas.
