Our history
It all started in 1950 when Jean Garnier, my grandfather, bought six hectares of vines in the communes of St Michel de Fronsac and Fronsac.
In 1979, being only 7 years old, the farm was leased to friends for 18 years.
In January 1998 the adventure began with the family vineyards, then gradually the property grew.
My wife Christine joined me in 2005 and we made the choice to switch our vineyard to organic from 2006 and biodynamic three years later.
Since 1998 our vineyard has undergone various changes: plantations of new atypical grape varieties such as Jurançon Noir, Petit Manseng, Colombard, Riesling, Chenin in over-grafted massal selection, replanting, drainage, rooting.
Today we farm 47 hectares divided into three different appellations: AOP Canon Fronsac – AOP Fronsac – AOP Bordeaux.
Appellations and Terroirs
The two appellations Fronsac and Canon Fronsac are twin appellations, by:
Their location, one enclosing the other, along the Dordogne, in the heart of the plateaus and clay-limestone hillsides of the Fronsadais,
Their common history which knew the Roman occupation, the construction of a "castrum" by Charlemagne from 769, 1240 years ago, then the presence of the Duke of Richelieu who acquired the Duchy of Fronsac in 1663,
The quality of their soils essentially made up of limestone plateau with starfish and Fronsadais molasses (clay-limestone soil),
Our many plots are located on the hillsides overlooking the Isle and the Dordogne with various exposures thus allowing plot harvesting and therefore optimal maturity.
Our Philosophy
We are above all peasants and have chosen biodynamic cultivation to create harmonious living conditions between the land, the vines and our environment.
This balance of the ecosystem, through the different care given to the vineyard (tillage, plant-based preparation, silica and compost, respect for lunar and terrestrial rhythms) allows us to offer you unique wines that are really the pure expression of their terroir and the men who shape them.
We favor tillage, grassing, stripping and above all very careful monitoring of each plot because, in organic farming, everything is based on anticipation and prevention.
The vinification is done in a natural way, without artifice, thanks to the know-how of the winemaker.
The rediscovered symbiosis between man and his vine will allow our wines to express all their quintessence.
