If you do not only live among the vines according to your postal address, but actually live among the vines like Judith Beck, you develop a deep relationship with your own vineyards.
The most beautiful of these, in which she prefers to cultivate the traditional varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, St. Laurent, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, are located on the slopes and on the hills of the so-called Wagram.
This is the name of the largely sun-exposed slope that rises from the lowlands in the east of Lake Neusiedl to the so-called Parndorfer Platte.
The soils in this area are extremely complex and often present humous, gravelly, loamy, chalky or mineral within a single vineyard. This is an ideal basis for complex, multi-faceted wines that reflect their origins. Naturalness and identity are therefore the characteristics that Judith Beck wants to see and show in all of her wines, which is why she has also been inspired by Rudolf Steiner and his ideas since 2007.
In other words, this means applying holistic methods when working on the organically farmed vineyards, which aim to keep the vines naturally healthy. This includes greening, maintaining biodiversity, fertilizing with biological humus, manual work, taking the lunar cycles into account and a lot more.
Consequently, Judith Beck does not add any pure culture yeasts, but "risks" letting her wines ferment spontaneously and thus really naturally.
Her wines are therefore natural, truthful, genuine and, above all, authentic in the best sense of the word.
Always more reserved than loud. Always worth a second "look". In Judith Beck's words:
“Anyone can do international style anywhere. Wines like mine can only be made by me, here and now. And for me that's the most beautiful thing there is. Just like my life in the vines.” Exactly!
