A family story
It all starts from the Albesani vineyard, in 1953. A long succession of rows, cultivated by the grandparents to devote themselves to the production of wine.
Piero Busso, cellar in NeiveFrom the early years, Busso's philosophy was clear: to make wines that knew how to speak of the territory. The company was founded in 1953 at the behest of Guido, Piero's father. As the seasons go by, our idea of wine becomes more and more precise. Following the premature death of Guido, at the end of the 70s Piero Busso, always linked to these lands, took over the reins of the cellar and in 1982 produced the first bottle of Barbaresco Albesani. An important step, which clarifies the line that will guide our production from that moment on.
The wine we try to bottle is a wine that respects the territory, the vine, the fruit. Who knows how to enhance their characteristics, without distorting them and without bending them to the temptation to force their hand too much.
Cantina Piero Busso of Neive | News, the grapes of our daily story
With the purchase of new Crus we have extended the range of wines produced. In 1985, it was the turn of Barbaresco Bricco Mondino, vinified from grapes coming from the Balluri (here in Neive). In 1999 it was the turn of Barbaresco Gallina, the following year to San Stunet (Treiso).
Barbaresco is the page on which we continue to write our idea of wine, respectful of the suggestions of the territory, of the exposure, of the peculiarities that characterize its spirit.
In 2010, in memory of Nonno Guido, who had deeply believed in the greatness of the Albesani Cru, the Barbaresco Albesani Viti Vecchie wine was born. To produce it we only use grapes from vines planted in the 1950s.
We have always pursued a discourse linked to respect for the earth, which goes beyond the organic certification we have obtained: no herbicides or chemical products, sustainable treatments, a green attitude well before the environmental awareness widespread today.
From the vineyard to the cellar, Piero Busso is a family adventure
We have continued to experience the company as we experience the family: in terms of size and characteristics, our company has always been like this. Piero, his wife Lucia, their children Pierguido and Emanuela take care of everything. From work in the vineyard to the harvest, from winemaking to sale. Every aspect of everyday life in our Cellar passes through the hands and the gaze of one of us. With the same passion, with the same enthusiasm as always!
Today the Busso family leads the company in Neive, with 10 hectares of vines.
Barbaresco has always been the heart of our production.
