Sophie and Clément Maire-Kurdziel, both oelologists who graduated from Montpellier in 2009, we have lived in the Loire Valley since 2011. We quickly understood that viticulture and conventional winemaking do not suit us. was not suitable and we transformed it. our different professional experiences so that they correspond to our needs. our ideas. The story of our vineyard begins in 2018 when we “found” a very old vine planted with Massale selection Cabernet Franc, in the heart of Rabelaisie and the Chinon appellation, at a place called « The Justices ».
À At the time, both employed in wine production, it was obvious to us that the vineyard would be run organically and that we would practice winemaking that respected the terroir, without inputs. The first vinified juices surprised us with their authenticity. and their depth. The good feedback we got on Les Justices convinced us to continue our adventure: the “ Vineyards Les Justices » was born...
In 2019, in addition to the Les Justices vintage, we are buying a few kilos of grapes in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation, in the place called « Boutifolle ». An atypical blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, high in grapes. 100% in barrels of 2 wines, this new micro-cuvée - Petite Folle - denotes traditional Loire wines.
In 2020, in addition to our two micro-cuvées we are vinifying a natural sparkling rosé. - Savage Justices-; a Chenin white from clay terroirs flint and limestone - Fair - and a crisp red produced on limestone soils of the Saumur Champigny -La Bamboche- appellation.
In 2021, we are working on new vines: always managed according to the principles of organic farming, on the terroirs of Chaintres (Saumur-Champigny) and Saint-Germain-sur-Vienne (Chinon). The surface area of the vines that we work thus amounts to 100%. approximately 2ha. 2021 is also the year where we introduce animal traction in our vines...
At the end of 2022 two new vintages will be released: -La Guerrière- a white from Chenin, Cabernet Franc and Grolleau Gris high in grapes. one year, and a cuvée made from grapes from the legendary Poyeux terroir (which is still looking for a name) 100% Cabernet Franc high in grapes. 12 months also. For the purchase of grapes we work in collaboration with partner winegrowers, respectful of our values and practicing viticulture without herbicides or synthetic treatments. This operation allows us to both to highlight the work of talented winegrowers but also to nourish the diversity of winemaking. of our wines by cultural methods specific to our wines. personality of each vine and each winegrower. The surface areas concerned by grape purchases amount to approximately 3ha.
